From ancient times to the present, there have been many people who, through diligent cultivation, can travel freely between different dimensions. Of course, they are simply deities; they do not possess a physical body. Being without a physical body is convenient; they can move, travel, and move freely between any dimension. However, some are like this: they do not possess a spiritual body, but their dimension is still within a limited, small area, and they do not wish to go to every place.
Therefore, if a person in society keeps confined to a small area—not just physically, but also mentally—their future spiritual development will be limited. This is because they cannot open their minds, broaden their horizons, or think about many things. They see little and do not care about anything. So even if they are reborn in the future, they will still be confined to a small area, a small space.
Most of these people are quite attached to things, dislike the outside world, and keep their thoughts circling in their minds. Such people will mostly end up in the lower three realms, or the hell realm, or the Asura realm. Because they don't like to wander there; they prefer to fight and contend, unable to let go of their thoughts, and constantly going around in circles. These people tend to reach lower realms of existence.
If your spirituality is high, and you cultivate it well, clearly, and thoroughly, then with that high spirituality, you can see and stand at a higher level. The higher you stand, the farther you can see, and the higher your spiritual realm will be. As a result, the people you encounter will be different, and you will have a more open and magnanimous perspective. Naturally, without even realizing it, your spiritual realm will improve.
Once your realm is elevated, it depends on which space you belong to, because there are countless spaces in the universe. As long as your space is suitable for you, whatever level you cultivate to, you can go to that space and be free and at ease. It's not about being in or out of the immortal path; it's about being in a very quiet and peaceful place where you can be free and at ease.
If you are in the hell realm, the lower three realms, or the Asura realm, you are controlled and regulated. You are not free. It is not easy to be reborn. You have to go through cultivation and many trials and tribulations before they decide that you can be reborn. Otherwise, it is not possible.
That's in other, clearer realms of the spirit world. They don't need to worry about that. They believe that to be born, reincarnated, or reborn to do something, they just need to give the order, and they can come anytime, anywhere. Oh! I see. So, people say that in the hell realm, in the lower three realms, in the underworld, a person has to go through a long period of time, working very hard, to be reborn. There, those under their jurisdiction also need permission to leave; otherwise, you can't get out.
So, in ancient times, we talked about whether our ancestors were born, passed away, or reincarnated! This has been a very positive question from ancient times to the present. Nowadays, people keep worshipping and praying to their ancestors. Think about it, if your ancestors have gone through dozens, hundreds, or thousands of generations, and you keep worshipping them, and they don't pass away but stay in your house, wouldn't your house be filled with many spirits? How could you possibly live there? That doesn't make sense.
Ancestors, generally speaking, we should respect and honor them. Even if it's a distant relative, you should still remember them. Because you don't know them personally, why should you worship them? Generally speaking, for those three to five generations closer, a simple act of respect and worship is sufficient. This is because our ancestors are in the mortal realm, a practical matter. They left us their possessions, wisdom, and education, and we respect and worship them out of gratitude, not because they possess divine power or other abilities.
Generally, if there is a deity who is capable and has connections, yes, they can come back to take care of you and help you. However, they are also selfless. If your family needs their help, they will assist you; but if you do not perform well, they will not help you. This is generally how ancestors are categorized, and we respect them.
However, some ancestors, unable to find a way out or understand the situation, and unable to leave this mortal realm, keep wandering around, not yet going to other dimensions to reunite with others or register their presence. They will periodically return to their home. Their wandering might bring some benefits to the family, making things smoother and more successful; but many others might cause more damage, making things worse. They might believe that one of the brothers has a grudge against them or something, and they might create problems, causing illness or other trouble.
Therefore, it's best to guide one's ancestors to another dimension, preventing them from lingering and yearning in this mortal realm. Of course, this depends on their virtue! If their virtue hasn't reached that level, it's difficult for them to leave on their own. They need the help of spirits to guide and guide them.
There are many people in the mortal world nowadays who say that reciting scriptures or reading certain things can guide people to a certain realm or state! For example, to the Western Paradise of Buddha, or something like that, relying on one's mental power can help them! But that's not how it works! If people had that much mental power, what would be the point of gods? We wouldn't need gods anymore; spirits would be the same as gods and humans. What would be the point of that?!
The power of thought is like this: during his own confused state, spirit friends happened to arrive while he was chanting scriptures. He was simply asking them to come and help him take them away. It's not that ordinary people have that ability to take them away; unless you cultivate to a very high level, your own energy is sufficient, and you can communicate with spirit friends, then use your own methods to communicate with them and ask them to take them away, only then can it work!
Otherwise, if you were a chanting master, and you could command a person to go wherever they wanted, that would be terrible! If you could control everyone, making them live or die at will, what would the spirits do? If someone is already dead, and you control a spirit, moving them to the ground or anywhere else you want them to go, oh! That's not how it works!
Unless you, as a high-ranking sorcerer, can truly communicate with spirits in the spirit world—what we call "spiritual communication"—and ask them to help take him away, it's not that you yourself can take him away. Once a spirit is possessed, you, as a human, have to control him. If you can control him, then what's the point of the spirits? The formless spirit can't fly around freely; you can't just move him around and expect him to obey you completely.
Oh! All this talk about what abilities, powers, or magical abilities you're after. To gain magical abilities, you need to be granted them by the spirit world, then communicate with your spirit friends, and guide and liberate them. Only then can you achieve these abilities. Ordinary chanting masters can't do that; they just perform for show. Humans are the same; they also value peace of mind after death. They chant for peace of mind.
Chanting scriptures is about achieving peace of mind. So what should you chant for? It's nothing more than chanting for rebirth in the Pure Land, returning to the divine, returning to the Buddha, or returning to the immortals—all to help you. But if you haven't cultivated to that level, you can't possibly ask Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to help you guide someone, or Amitabha Buddha to help you guide someone, or just put on a robe and you can summon friends from the spirit world to do things for you. That's impossible.
On the contrary, those who chant scriptures and recite sutras may often do so, but instead of accumulating merit, helping others is somewhat immoral. Because their ability and skill are insufficient, they will lose credibility, which is equivalent to deception, lying, and being blind. This is not quite right.
So why do you chant scriptures to help others? You need to genuinely and sincerely cultivate yourself, reaching a point where you have true spiritual insight, before you can help others in return. It's not about chanting scriptures or wishing blessings upon anyone!
The so-called chanting of scriptures is a wave of thought, a mental thought. This wave of thought is constantly moving. You might be making a mental movement, and after it moves, you might keep asking the spirit to come over. But if you come over and see that you have no spiritual power, how can it listen to you? It's impossible for it to listen to you. Unless you are truly living in this life as a human being, and you are here to save the world and help people, then the spirit will give you instructions, the decrees brought from your previous life, and you will be given clear instructions in this life to carry out your duties.
The instructions usually come from spirits, high-level beings, or even the Jade Emperor or Buddha. These kinds of beings give you instructions to help people be saved and guided; only they have the power to do so. Ordinary chanting monks don't have this power; they just chant scriptures and invite people. But even if a deity is invited, they can't necessarily just appear on your behalf! They need to see your instructions before they can act. Otherwise, their spirit friends in the spirit world are living well and busy doing their own things; why would they need to give you directions, pointing east and west, asking you to help this person turn around or that person turn around?
Because after we pass away, our spirit is reborn and goes to a certain place. Of course, someone will come to guide and lead it there. So, as people often say, birds of a feather flock together! Things of the same kind gather together, and naturally, they will return to that place, to the place where they belong. They will search and search. So, what we mean is, those who cultivate to a higher level will see their spiritual realm grow, but if they don't cultivate, those at a lower level will have uncertain destinations.
For example, his habits might belong to the hell realm. People in the hell realm will come looking for you. If you connect with him, he will attract you! He will tempt you or something, and draw you to his side! It's the same in the lower three realms. People with strong attachments will also do this. If you have attachments and think that they are similar to you, they will come to attract you and beckon you to their side.
Each space is a community! Some communities are large, while others are small. The things people do and the habits they have in each space are different. Of course, if they want to live in a similar way, they will look for other spaces. If a space is short of people or something similar happens, they will come looking for it, and once they find someone, they will guide them there! That's why we talk about guiding and transforming people; that's how transformation works.
Therefore, once a person is reincarnated, it's very difficult to find them in any dimension! It's extremely difficult. Unless a deity has a very high level of spiritual attainment, they can't determine which dimension a person is reborn into after death. Generally, it's impossible. Ordinary monks can't do that either!
Ah, unless a spirit has great spiritual power, it can only reveal information to others through various means, such as dreams, rituals, or mediums. Generally speaking, once a person passes away and is reborn in another dimension, they are unrelated to people in the mortal realm.
After someone dies, the bond between parents is severed, so there's not much need to focus on it. If they were kind to you, a simple act of remembrance—paying respects, showing reverence, or remembering them—is enough. There's no need to spend ten, twenty, or even a hundred years constantly remembering them or doing such troublesome things.
In each of our spaces, everyone lives their own life. Even your living relatives and friends can't be watched over every single day. You can't talk to them all the time, and they can't keep talking to you all the time, right? When someone leaves, they miss you and think of you. It's just an interaction of spiritual energy. Even if you're in the south or the north and haven't seen them, it's still just that feeling of missing them, that interaction. That's all.
Ah, when you go to another dimension, you don't necessarily have to interact with him through thoughts, because in that other dimension, he has already been reborn! He's already being reborn! After a period of time, he'll gradually forget about the things in this world. Besides, he's completely busy in his own dimension. Of course, after a person dies, for a short time afterward, he'll still have thoughts and ideas. So sometimes, not long after someone dies, they'll come back to their home for a visit, communicating with you through their spirit—that's what we call a dream.
His spirit communicates with your spirit, giving you a feeling or sensation. That so-called dream is just a dream, that's how dreams are formed! For example, in a dream, the places we've been will appear, just showing you those places. It's a spirit, the spirit is replenishing itself, it goes for a walk, to look around, and then you, being conscious, will know that such a thing exists, that's all.
The most important thing for a person, of course, is reality—living your real life, taking good care of yourself, and caring for both large and small groups. This is the sole and greatest purpose of humankind. Then, elevating your spirituality to a level that aligns with your desires and needs is also the greatest hope. The greatest hope is to transform your aspirations into your goals, to find your ideals, and that is to fulfill the function of being human. This is the function of humanity.
So, many rights and wrongs are temporary! Wealth and glory are only temporary; they will always pass! You must first understand what you can take with you in this mortal world. This is the most important thing to consider. Decide what you can take with you, and then focus your attention on what you want to take. By putting more effort into it, you can take more with you—that's possible!
As for the various kinds of affection and love, these are all part of a process, helping you to change your mindset in life, so that you don't end up in such dire straits. You can't avoid the bonds of kinship and friendship; in this colorful world of mortals, emotions are important. So what's the purpose of these emotions? You need to know how to utilize them! If you utilize these emotions well, they become your strength.
So-called emotions are nothing more than friendship, kinship, parent-child relationships, romantic love, and family affection. These are the emotions you have with people, as well as with animals, plants, and all things. You need to grasp and recognize these emotions, and then do so in the best way possible, without hurting your feelings, but in a way that helps your state of mind and your heart. When we talk about emotions, for example, if you see something, something very good, and you like and love it very much, you also have the ability to feel and experience that feeling, and feel comfortable.
This feeling will increase your energy, elevate you, and then help your spirituality; the same applies to love. When you achieve your ideals and requirements in all aspects of love, it will also help elevate your spirituality. Generally speaking, if you utilize your feelings, they will be channeled into your energy; this applies to all aspects of love and romance!
The relationship between father and son, mother and son, involves mutual interaction. However, this interaction shouldn't involve creating a negative atmosphere all day long, which would lower your spiritual energy. Instead, you should constantly create positive spiritual energy. This applies to all things, emotions, and phenomena in the mortal world; this is how they should be transformed and transformed to meet the requirements of your spirituality.
To elevate this spirituality, one must lessen attachment to it. This feeling shouldn't be constantly given to you, treated as you, used as a topic of discussion, constantly swirling around, constantly causing trouble! Or having many unresolved issues—don't do any of that, absolutely not.
This matter of emotion needs to be explained clearly. I'll explain it to you in more depth when I have time. It's not easy to talk about emotion in a short time; it's quite difficult, a rather profound principle. Because when you talk about emotion, you need to explain how to manage and transform it.
